Microsoft SkyDrive apps for Android ,iOS , Mac, and Windows coming Soon

SkyDrive integration is already on its way to Windows Phone 7 devices, but there’s word now that Microsoft’s cloud file storage and sync service is going to be popping up on a number of other platforms as well. According to a job posting spotted by Liveside, Microsoft is developing SkyDrive mobile apps for iOS and Android as well as desktop apps for Windows and Mac.

With Microsoft doing its best to entice users to sign up for its cloud services and apps, SkyDrive has become an essential component to the company’s consumer strategy. SkyDrive was used to launch Microsoft’s Office Web Apps and it’s integrated tightly into the Windows Live Essentials 2011 apps, too.

With its increased importance to Microsoft’s cloud strategy, it’s certainly no surprise to hear that the company is working on apps for competitor’s platforms. Microsoft already offers several apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and there’s also a Bing app for Android. Native SkyDrive apps will provide a kind of “gateway” experience that encourages users to experiment with (and hopefully fully adopt) Microsoft’s other cloud-enabled apps once their files have been synced.

Microsoft has been busy shining up SkyDrive this year, too, revealing a full HTML5 makeover of the web app back in June. With 25GB of free storage available to users and totally free Office Web Apps on hand to enable collaborative document editing with no costly locally-installed software, it’s definitely a service worth checking out if you haven’t already. If you’re already making use of SkyDrive, stay tuned: it’s going to get even better once you’ve got cross-platform mobile access to all your files.

MoboTap’s Dolphin browser is Now Available for iPhone

It's already popular with Android smartphone owners, and from today users of Apple's mobile devices can also try out MoboTap's Dolphin browser.Having been downloaded to Android smartphones some nine million times, it’s safe to say that the Dolphin Browser has been something of a success for developer MoboTap. And from today the free app is also available for Apple’s mobile devices.

The new iOS app brings with it many of the features enjoyed by Android users and will compete for attention with the likes of iPhone’s native
Safari browser and the third-party Opera Mini option.A popular feature of MoboTap’s browser not found on others is its gestures capability. This enables you to navigate the web with a quick swipe of the finger. For example, make a “v” gesture on the screen and you’ll be swiftly taken to the bottom of the web page.

You’ll find a gesture list within the app showing you the swipes you need to make in order to perform functions such as refresh a web page, open a new tab and add a bookmark. You can even add new gestures for new functions – how about a “D” for the Digital Trends homepage? The browser also features what its developers call Webzine. This allows you to populate a page with thumbnails from a list of more than 100 popular websites. Click on a thumbnail and you’ll be taken to a simplified version of the webpage, drawn from the site’s RSS feed, allowing for a less cluttered reading experience.

Other features include:
Speed Dial: “Put favorite sites on Speed Dial. Stop looking around in your bookmarks. Forget about typing out long URL. Just put your favorite sites on Speed Dial.”

Tabbed browsing: “Real tabbed browsing. Feel like you are on a desktop. Add tabs within Dolphin just like you would on a desktop.”

Sidebar: “We implemented two side bars for you to access Bookmark and Tool Bar without going through complicated clicks.

”The new iOS app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices and requires iOS 4.0 or later.

Google vs Apple: Who's the leader of tech industry?

In the news, people are well aware of the iOS vs Android war. Both operating systems and the companies behind them wage open battle in their quests for mobile domination. Otherwise, there are no arenas where the two tech giants go head to head… at least openly.

Behind the scenes, a more heated battle than the public one wages every day. It’s not the technology that drives these companies but rather the people behind their technologies. As a result, getting the best people available is always at the top of the priority list.

Apple, Google, and other Silicon Valley giants have been actively recruiting the best people in the technology world. They do what it takes to attract and often “steal” the brightest minds and most imaginative innovators. Who’s winning the battle?

Often, the best way to see is to look at acquisitions. There is almost always an element of talent-buying behind every purchase. Coming up with the systems and programming behind technologies is easy. Getting the people who had the original concept and fleshed it out to a working product is a bigger motivator.

In short, it’s a land grab. This infographic by GPlus breaks down the current war tallies as we know them publicly. Behind the scenes, the war is probably much bloodier than this.

Walmart enters Into social media

Evernote, LinkedIn, Mint….Walmart? The retail giant is now among Mountain View’s leading startup companies following its purchase of Kosmix, the company behind real-time Twitter filter site TweetBeat, medical search engine RightHealth, and topic-specific engine Kosmix. The company has now been transformed into Walmart’s @WalmartLabs division, which aims to create technologies and businesses around social and mobile commerce.Kosmix founders Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaraman, as well as the entire Kosmix team, are expected to stay on-board as part of the newly formed @WalmartLabs. Rumors: Samsung Wants To Buy WebOS, Not HP's PC Business

Samsung has hired HP's former president of PSG marketing Raymond Wah to run its PC business and is considering a purchase of WebOS, according to a DigiTimes report.Last week, Samsung denied rumors that it wanted to buy HP's PC business. This new report from DigiTimes speculates Samsung is going after WebOS instead.

The future of WebOS is in limbo. HP says it is still considering using the OS to power PCs. It's also possible HP will license WebOS to other manufacturers. But the most likely scenario is that HP will sell off WebOS altogether.WebOS could be a lot more attractive to Samsung now that Google owns Motorola. Since it's very likely Motorola will get first dibs on Google's Android updates and new features, Samsung could be looking for an alternative OS.

iPhone 5 May Have Metal Back and Sub-4-inch Display : Reports

The still-unacknowledged iPhone 5, expected to make its debut in October, is now expected to sport a metal back instead of glass, and its screen size will not exceed 4 inches, contrary to earlier reports.Instead, the next iPhone will have a display size between 3.5 and 3.7 inches -- the current model has a 3.5-inch display -- and may also have a thinner bezel along the sides of the device to make the screen look larger than it actually is.

Other than those changes, the next iPhone is not expected to be remarkably different from the iPhone 4, sources inside Apple's supply chain have reportedly told Taiwan-based DigiTimes. Shrinking Screens Suggestions the next iPhone would have a 4-inch screen have been circulating for some time. In February, DigiTimes claimed the iPhone 5 would have a 4-inch screen, and a similar report followed a month later in the China Times. DigiTimes is apparently backing off its original report, and now says the next iPhone's display will not be much larger than the usual 3.5 inches.

Samsung postpones Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia VXK7Q4A54KJD

The patent war between Samsung and Apple continues. Today, Samsung plans a countersuit and will delay the Australian release of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 until the end of September.
Samsung’s ongoing legal war with Apple will mean more delays for its devices in Australia. Today, the electronics maker revealed that it plans to delay the Galaxy Tab 10.1′s Australian release until at least Sept. 26, reports ZDNet. In addition, the Samsung will countersue Apple Australia, alleging that the iPad and iPhone violate several, perhaps dozens, of Samsung’s patents. Apple alleges that the Galaxy Tab violates 10 of its patents.

“Our cross claim will include a cross claim of infringement for a number of our patents that have been infringed by their iPad,” said barrister David Catterns to Justice Annabelle Bennett today.
Apple has been aggressively, and successfully, attempting to block the sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in regions around the world. Australia and Germany are the big battlefields at this time.

Google+ Isn't Just A Social Network, It's An "Identity Service" : Eric Schmidt

Google+ is not just the search giant's effort to take on Facebook: it's primarily an "identity service" that Google will use to help build other services. That's according to Google chairman Eric Schmidt, who was explaining why Google+ is requiring users to stick with their real names.
As Fred Wilson points out, Schimdt's statement raises the question of who Google+ is really for you, or Google?
Lots of companies have tried to establish an identity system for the Web. The idea is that if users have a single trusted identity, it could ease their interactions offline and online -- imagine never having to sign in to get your email or make an online purchase, for instance. Microsoft made an effort in the late 1990s with Passport, but its ambitions were thwarted by privacy advocates and the FTC. Facebook's social graph is another effort.

Before Google+, your Google identity was really only used on Google sites. But with Google+ and the +1 button, that identity system can extend across the Web -- if you're signed in to Google+ and you +1 a particular Web site, that information can be tracked. That helps Google provide more personalized services (like search results) for you, but could also help with ad targeting.Schmidt also said that Google believes the Internet will work better if people know that you're a real person rather than a fake person or a dog.

Kindle 3G – Features and Hacks

Many people believe that the Kindle is a simple e-reader which retrieves its books from Amazon.com. However many people are not aware of the unique features that this simple device offers. On top of just being able to download books and magazines, this device can actually browse the internet. No it can’t handle video’s or any extensive web elements, but simple websites with mostly text on them are easily pulled up. Googling is a snap as you browse about on FREE 3G internet, and other sites work great as well.Want to find out when the next movie is playing, or search for a great restaurant? Check on your Kindle! Many people underestimate the 3G capabilities of the Kindle and would be pleasantly surprised to see that it can do most of the functions that smart phones can without having to pay the monthly bills associated with them.

What Kindle Should I purchase?
You will see that there is a slight price gap between the Kindle 3G with ‘special offers’ and one without. These special offers are actually ads that appear when your Kindle is not powered on, and for some people they can be quite annoying. If you want to save money, then purchasing the Kindle 3G with special offers is the way to go especially since there is a hack that can remove those pesky ads (as seen below). If you don’t want to deal with jail breaking your Kindle, then purchase the one without ads and save yourself the headache.

What else can my Kindle do?
If free 3G internet access and unlimited e-books/magazines wasn’t enough, then you can satisfy your greedy appetites by indulging in the Kindle’s other features. For one, this e-reader has an incredibly long battery. It’s advertised to have a battery life of two months, but really the battery lasts for only a few weeks with continuous use, which is still a significant amount of time for any wireless device.Another unique feature is that you can store/play music files.

Google planning to shut down Slide social apps

Apparently the age of “superpoking” social network friends and throwing sheep at them is coming to a close.Google plans to shut down the social applications developed by Slide, a company it acquired a year ago for $182 million. Slide products include SuperPoke and photo management and decorating tools like Slideshow and FunPix.Slide’s applications like Slideshow were very popular on MySpace during its heyday, and found success on other social networking sites, including Facebook, where the sheep-throwing feature of SuperPoke caught on, entertaining and annoying many.

But usage of Slide applications has apparently been declining and disappointing, according to a message Slide posted on its blog on Thursday.“We created products with the goal of providing a fun way for people to connect, communicate and share. While we are incredibly grateful to our users and for all of the wonderful feedback over the years, many of these products are no longer as active or haven’t caught on as we originally hoped,” the post reads.

IBM's 120 petabyte data drive: world's Largest data drive

IBM is currently in the process of building the world's largest data storage drive of 120 petabytes, to put this into perspective that's 120 million gigabytes, an iPhone 4 has 16GB.This mammoth task will be accomplished by putting together around 200,000 seperate disk drives, placed in a conventional horizontal pattern but with more spacing, allowing for more hard drives.

To deal with all this data they've built an entirely new system which deals with how the information is collected and used. By sharing the information out over different drives the system is able to work on difference sections of the file at the same time, vastly improving speeds. The system is being produced for an unnamed client who apparently wishes to use it for 'simulation purposes'. At 120 petabytes this drive will be able to hold 60 copies of the largest backup yet made of the internet. Yes, that's right, 60 copies of the internet.

HP Elitebook 8×60 series laptop that can replace any desktop

HP’s Elitebook line of business laptops has enjoyed a pretty long history of good reviews from most users, thanks to their superb build quality, powerful specs and great business support (which is separate from the abysmal customer support for their consumer Pavilion line). The Elitebook has become an excellent choice over the other two main competitors, Lenovo’s ThinkPad and Dell’s Precision, especially when the former started to lose points in build quality (even their famous keyboard was affected) and the latter was full of bugs and improperly implemented features (like the fingerprint scanner that needs Dell’s custom software to run and therefore does not conform to most government or corporate specifications). And now, HP has released the next generation of Elitebooks – the 8×60 series, which are a worthy successor to the 8×40’s (not sure why they skipped the 50 number, though).

The new lineup brings a new, from grounds up redesign of the housing – after three generations of about the same design, the new laptops look either repulsive or very attractive. I really liked the classic yet modern lines and finish of the 8530w and 8540w, and the new “retro” look stirs somewhat mixed feelings – the hinge looks nice, but the overall design seems simply ugly. However, it’s really the thickness that gets a lot of people: with the previous models, HP was going for the slim design, while this time they just said “ah, forget it” and made the laptops a full half inch thicker than before – the 17 inch 8760w looks pretty normal, but for a 15 and 14 inch models, the 8560 and 8460 are too thick (and heavy)....

Samsung leaks Nexus Prime handset itself

It looks like Samsung itself has gone and confirmed it is going to be behind the long rumoured inbound Nexus Prime handset. Samsung has worked on the Nexus line before, as they built the Google Nexus , so their involvement shouldn't come as any great surprise. The new phone was mentioned in a cease and desist letter sent out to those who allegedly managed to get their hands on firmware relating to the as-yet unreleased handset.

Website Geek.com posted an image of the letter that contained the Nexus Prime mention. It appears to confirm, via Samsung's own legal team, that it is behind the new Google handset. Just a tad ironic that Samsung would go and confirm a rumour whilst trying to squash it. So has Samsung finally put an end to rumours surrounding the Nexus Prime? Most definitely not, now we know it exists, it is time to start speculating on pricing and release dates.

Facebook Votes out Its Groupon Killer

Facebook announced today that it's phasing out its Groupon competitor Deals this week. The company released the information to Reuters in a statement, which was quickly picked up by other news outlets. The funny thing is, we asked Facebook about this on Tuesday when they announced their huge privacy changes and the end of Facebook Places. Places was tied in with Deals -- you had to check in at a location to redeem a deal -- so it seemed pretty weird that Facebook would continue running Deals without a method of checking in. But apparently, that's what they were going to do.

Here's what a spokesperson from Facebook's PR firm told us would happen: Previously people had to click "Check in" from a mobile device to claim a deal. Now when they click "Check in" from a mobile device they will be directed to update their status and tell us what they are doing, who they're with, and where they are. Once a user checks in, they will see if there's a deal available below their check-in. If the Place they're at is running a Check-in Deal, the Check-in Deal information will appear below their News Feed status update story. The user will then be able to click there and claim the deal.

Apple Hired a 19-Year-Old iPhone Hacker Behind JailbreakMe.com

Apple just hired Nicholas Allegra, the world-famous hacker known as "Comex" who created JailbreakMe.com, the easiest way to "jailbreak" your iPhone.
Allegra posted on Twitter last night that he's starting an internship at Apple in two weeks. Apple is no stranger to hiring members of the iPhone hacker community, but they seem to have hit the jackpot this time. Allegra is one of the most prolific and well known iPhone hackers. JailbreakMe.com made the act of jailbreaking, which Apple hates, accessible to anyone who knows how to use the web browser on an iPhone. While Allegra has received mostly encouraging responses on Twitter, it's undoubtedly a huge blow to the iPhone hacking community at large.

Google Maps Adds Voice Search Feature to Chrome Desktop

If you talk to your desktop PC, it's probably for all the wrong reasons--usually to hurl expletives at the machine for not working properly. Well, users of the desktop version of Google Chrome now have a more productive reason to get chatty with their computers. Google has added voice search for Google Maps to Chrome, offering users a (sometimes) faster way to get directions.
The main Google Maps interface in Chrome now includes a microphone icon. When you click it, a "Speak Now" dialog appears. How well does it work? Pretty well in my brief testing, albeit with a few hiccups. When I said, "Petaluma to San Diego," Google Maps understand me perfectly and posted the map below.

Facebook Has Hit 1 Trillion Page Views Officially

Facebook has officially hit 1 trillion page views, according to figures released for web traffic in June, Time magazine’s TechLand column reports.According to Time, those 870 million visitors are around 120 million greater than Facebook's reported total number of registered users. The discrepancy may be due to non-Facebook members visiting the site from other social media links or through search engine traffic. After Facebook, the next most popular site is YouTube, which has only one-tenth of the page views, but matches 90% of Facebook's unique visitors for the same time periodThe data compiled by the Google-owned Double Click Adplanner show that throughout the month of June Facebook received more than 1 trillion page views and was visited by more than 870 million unique users -- an average of 1,149.42 page views per user.

My Apple Story

I was never a True Believer. In fact, probably the opposite.I’m not one of those guys who discovered the joy of computing with an Apple II or an original Mac, and then faithfully bought macs throughout his life. One of the fellowship of fans who kept Apple above water through the 90s. I was a PC all the way.My grandfather, a huge computer guy, discovered computing through work and was thus a PC fan, and so I had a PC as a kid, and grew up in a PC world. I discovered computing through the DOS command line. Whenever an Apple product was mentioned in my house (quite rarely), it was to dismiss them as overpriced toys.
As a teenage geek, the joy of computers for me was the ability to open a big beige box and be able to swap out any parts I didn’t like for something else. It was about playing graphics-intensive games. (Half-Life 2!) But, in a way, that makes me the story of Apple’s revival. I generally disliked Apple products. I disliked the pastel designs. I disliked the underpowered, overpriced iBooks......

Of course, if you're just updating via Software Update, it'll be much smaller. You can check to see whether your device in question has driver support using Apple’s comprehensive list.If you love your Epson hardware, treat it right. How? With Apple’s 2.8 Epson driver update, released Tuesday.

Add a second hard drive With iFixit's Mac Mini kit

iFixit’s teardowns are always a fun read—not just for the sometimes-gory shots of computer innards, but also for the little tidbits discovered along the way. Case in point: The company’s Mac Mini teardown revealed space and a cable port for an additional hard drive. Now, if you have a brand new Mac Mini and are wondering “Why, I’d love to add an additional hard drive to my Mac Mini without paying $750 for a solid-state drive addition or $999 for a Mini with Lion Server,” never fear: iFixit has the $70 kit for you.

8GB iPhone 4 in the process

Apple has started manufacturing an 8GB iPhone 4 model that could be sold alongside the brand-new iPhone 5 this fall, according to a Reuters report. The 8GB flash drives for the low-end iPhone 4 are being manufactured by a Korean company, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.Rumors of a low-end iPhone debuting with the iPhone 5 are not new. The idea of a scaled-down version of the iPhone being sold alongside a new model is not new either. Apple has been selling an 8GB iPhone 3GS at a discount alongside the iPhone 4 for the past year, so it’s not going to be a surprise if an 8GB iPhone 4 hits the market this fall.

Turn TouchPads Into Android Tablets : TouchDroid

The lucky people who managed to buy a US$99 TouchPad before they sold out just got luckier: A group of developers is working on a way to load Android onto the tablets. Hewlett-Packard said last week it would stop making the TouchPad and that it was exploring options for the webOS software that runs on the device. It has also dropped the price of the 16GB TouchPad to $99, making it one of the best tablet deals around. Still, people who bought it took a risk, since it's not clear if HP will continue to develop the operating system. That risk may now pay off since the TouchPad could become the best-value Android tablet.

Three developers and other supporters have launched the TouchDroid project and plan to soon begin porting an older version of Android, known as Gingerbread, to the tablets. "So you've plunked down your $99/$149, and you're staring at that WebOS screen... Welcome to a grand effort to port Android to the HP Touchpad," they wrote on a wiki page about the project. The group is having to start its work with Gingerbread because Google has not released the source code for Honeycomb, the version of Android for tablets that first became available on the Motorola Xoom in February. Once Ice Cream Sandwich, the next version of Android, becomes available, they'll focus on that version of the OS, according to the wiki site.

Free VisualHub updater for Lion by Techspansion

A strange chapter in the history of Techspansion’s long-ago-retired video conversion tool VisualHub is now drawing to a close with the release of a free update straight from the developer.Earlier in August, payment processor Kagi began selling a $5 VisualHub update that added Lion compatibility and upgraded the ffmpeg converter at the core of VisualHub’s functionality. That $5 updater used scripts from Techspansion’s sole proprietor Tyler Loch, which he’d made freely available at his website—and which he hadn’t given Kagi permission to resell. Kagi emailed Techspansion customers to promote the updater, though the company had never spoken to Loch about selling the patch.

Just one day after the initial story broke, Kagi announced that it was ceasing sales of its Visual Hub updater; Kagi CEO Kee Nethery told Macworld that Techspansion would be producing its own free VisualHub updater, which would be available to customers by mid-September. Don’t adjust your calendars, but it appears that, as far as VisualHub is concerned, September is now.

In an email to Macworld early Monday morning, Loch wrote: “I’m happy to put Techspansion to rest. Again.” Updates for VisualHub (and its sibling AudioHub) are available at Techspansion’s website. On the site, Loch writes:These one-step updaters will fix a show-stopper bug preventing proper operation in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. It’s been nearly three years since Techspansion closed and these programs were last maintained. VisualHub and AudialHub are no longer supported. And they won’t last forever.Whatever breaks from here on out will be the end, sadly. I hope this update squeezes a little more life out of these two apps for you.

Apple's A6 chip will boost speed and battery life

Apple's next iPad will be faster and more power-efficient thanks to its new, quad-core A6 processor, but the new tablet may not be ready to ship until next June, an industry analyst said Monday. The A6 will succeed the dual-core A5 processor used in Apple's iPad 2, said Linley Gwennap, founder and principal analyst at The Linley Group. The A6 will likely be made by chip foundry company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), Gwennap said, citing multiple sources. The A5 is manufactured by Samsung, and Apple is embroiled in a legal dispute with that company.
The manufacturing schedule for the A6 suggests it won't be in production until the second quarter next year, which means the next iPad might not appear until June, Gwennap said. The A6 should bring more performance to Apple devices while preserving battery life. Many of the improvements will come from TSMC's 28-nanometer manufacturing process, Gwennap said. The process will shrink the circuitry compared to the A5, which is manufactured on a 40 nanometer process, making the A6 smaller and faster.

"The tablet guys are excited to offer more performance with the same battery life," Gwennap said.Smartphones with dual-core processors are already being released, and some analysts predict that the iPhone 5, expected later this year, will be powered by the dual-core A5 processor. The A6 will square off against quad-core mobile processors from Texas Instruments, Nvidia and Qualcomm. Nvidia's quad-core Tegra processor, code-named Kal El, will appear in devices by the end of this year, Nvidia has said.

The A6 will likely be based on ARM's Cortex-A9 processor, which is the same design used in the A5. ARM has announced an upcoming Cortex-A15 processor, but the first devices based on that design won't ship until late next year or early 2013, Gwennap said.

My Opinion
There are several other applications available in the market that allows users to access the iBooks instantly from their iPhone such as iOS kindle app and Barnes & Noble NOOK app to read eBooks. Hot News: Apple to introduce a new, different type of Mac

I have heard rumblings that the MacBook Air is where Apple is taking its lineup of Macs. Today’s rumor seems to verify this. Macatakara.jp claims that Apple is preparing to unveil a new line of MacBooks that are different from anything currently on the market. They are so different that they may get a new name or brand identity all together. Unfortunately, the rumor is extremely vague on details, but does note that the new Macs may debut before the “end of this year.”
AppleInsider claims that Macatakara.jp is somewhat hit or miss with rumors. The brief and vague nature of the report also lends itself to a lot of criticism. The new product, if there is one, could be a line of MacBook Pros that are taking on a MacBook Air design philosophy, meaning they’re much thinner, have no disc drives, and have a solid state drive instead of a moving hard drive. This makes sense, as laptop PCs seem to be moving in the direction of solid state drives.
If this is the case, however, it seems likely that the source would have mentioned the MacBook Air as these would essentially look a lot like it, just bigger. We’ll keep you posted, but until we hear more, take this rumor lightly.

Griffin Launched Beacon Universal Remote System

The Beacon universal remote control system from Griffin Technology bridges the gap between your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and your home theater equipment. You’ll install the Dijit remote control app from the iTune’s app store and use Bluetooth to pair your iOS device to Beacon – no more tiny IR transmitters to plug into your iPhone. Then the Beacon will translate the Bluetooth signals into IR commands for your A/V equipment. The Dijit app has a large library of device codes already available to make setting up your remote easy, and there is a learn mode if you own a piece of equipment not in the database. You’ll be able to control individual devices or define activities that will do everything needed to watch a movie, for example. The Beacon is $79.99 from Griffin, and the Dijit app is free.

Logitechs New Tablet Speakers

Using a rubberised clip the speakers attach to your tablet and connect via your headphone jack. The speakers charge via USB giving you up to eight hours of sound.

Your tablet doesn’t quite pump out enough sound for that rave party ? Those explosions not “big” enough while watching the latest block buster ? Logitech has just announced the Tablet Speaker to help you pump up the volume.

The speakers even work as a low stand, so tunes while you type and they come with their own carry case.

Logitech has named these Tablet Speaker for Ipad but I can’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work with any tablet with a 3.5mm audio out jack.

Slated for release in September and available for preorder from Logitechthey’ll set you back $50.

Unboxing & Hands On Verizon Blackberry Bold 9930

Matthew unboxes the Blackberry Bold 9930 on Verizon. We first saw RIMs new lineup of Blackberrys at BlackBerry World earlier in the year. The 9930 (CDMA version of 9900) is the newest member of the BlackBerry lineup and s has a blazing fast 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor. Twice as fast as any other blackberry. The 2.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The camera on the back is 5-megapixel with 720p HD video recording capabilities. It is also one of the first Blackberries to launch with BlackBerry 7. Right away I noticed that the new keyboard is more spacious. 6% bigger to be exact. You can pick up the Blackberry Bold 9930 at Verizon for $249. The question is, Do Blackberries still have their appeal? Can it compete with the other fruit phone out there?

Google+ has now Identity-verification Badges

Google is adding badges that certify the identity of users of its Google+ social networking site, starting with public figures and with people who have been added by many as contacts.Later on, the verification badges will be available to a bigger scope of users who aren't famous or broadly popular on the site, Google official Wen-Ai Yu [cq] said in a Google+ post.

For now the main goal is to inform users which is the official profile of a singer, actor, politician, public figure or popular Google+ account holder they may want to add to their Google+ Circles to follow their public posts."When you visit the profile of a celebrity or public figure, you'll see a verification badge next to their profile name. This will help you easily determine which profiles are owned by real, verified people," she wrote.
Verified Google+ accounts will feature a gray checkmark inside a lighter-gray circle next to the person's profile name. It's not clear from Yu's post how many "followers" a Google+ user needs to have to qualify as someone whose account merits having a verification badge.Other social media sites feature verified accounts, including Twitter, which is used by many public figures to communicate with their fans.Google is pushing a policy for its users to identify themselves with their real names on Google+, a principle that has worked well for Facebook, helping it create and foster a more trustworthy environment than exists on other social sites where people use pseudonyms.

Facebook's real-name environment is credited as one of the main reasons why it dethroned MySpace as the world's most popular social networking site. However, Google faced criticism a few weeks ago when it started aggressively enforcing the real-names policy by deleting many accounts it determined to be in non-compliance.In response to the complaints, Google said it would modify its notification process to potentially non-compliant users by giving them a chance to fix the violations and appeal instead of deleting their profiles first.

Still, some people argue that Google should reconsider the real-names policy, saying that in some cases it's justified for people to use pseudonyms to protect their privacy and security, as in the case of political dissidents and victims of spousal abuse.
Google+, launched in late June, has an estimated 25 million [m] account holders, but it is still in limited beta. To join Google+, people have to receive an invitation from Google or from an existing member.
